Why Below the Norm?

I've been told and read in many articles that if your fees are too high, no one will buy from you.  AND if your fees are too low, no one will buy from you because they think that you do poor quality work (the adage, you only get what you pay for).  So... why are my fees below the norm for what I do?

It is NOT because I am not qualified.  See my  resume.

It is because:

• This is NOT my SOLE source of income.  I receive a small S.S. retirement check.

• I live in a retirement community with people on fixed incomes.

• Secretaries in our area earn between $10.00 an hour and $15.00 an hour.

• It would not be ethical to charge Internet clients more than local clients--besides some local people visit my web site.

• I work from my home and have no overhead other than my equipment, supplies, and phone bill.

As long as I can produce quality work with the equipment and software I have, I do NOT upgrade just because it is available. 

Hope this little explanation helped some when comparing Virtual Assistants.
